Famous Footwear Case Study
At Famous Footwear, "Test and Learn Retailing"
has become more than just a marketing slogan -
it's a way of life.
After
a successful pilot of APT's proprietary retail
optimization software, the APT Suite, executives
embraced the Test and Learn capability as one
of the central strategic initiatives for the company.
Famous Footwear executives are currently using
the APT Suite throughout the company to develop
optimized capital, operating, merchandising, and
marketing strategies.
"Working
with Applied Predictive Technologies, we have
become convinced that the rate at which an organization
learns can be a competitive advantage. The APT
Suite is the centerpiece of our rapid test and
learn function and our emerging rapid Test and
Learn culture," said Marty Lang, Famous Footwear's
Chief Financial Officer.
Famous
Footwear has gone so far as to create a Test &
Learn group within the company in order to focus
their efforts on building this strategic capability.
Executives from both companies interact regularly
to ensure that the APT's technology solution is
evolving and being used to full advantage. "APT
professionals take partnership to a whole new
level", said Alan Sue, Director of Test &
Learn at Famous Footwear. "They treat our
business as if it were their own. Their combination
of technical expertise with real world retail
experience really sets them apart."
The
APT Suite combines leading-edge technology (an
artificial intelligence platform that deploys
multiple advanced pattern recognition and optimization
algorithms) with smart design, to make it easy
for retailers to address issues that impact profitability
in the network retail business. Famous Footwear
has been able to use the APT Suite to develop
and refine strategies in virtually all areas of
their business.
"The
potential impact of Test and Learn on a retailer's
performance is limited only by the imagination
and strategic vision of its users," concluded
Lang. "The APT Suite has been a great
investment which has already paid for itself many
times over."
