Why APT?

APT offers a very unique and rewarding experience for its consultants, especially recent college graduates. From conversations with all of the people I met during the recruiting process, I learned just how different my experience would be from a more typical strategy consulting company. One of the major differences between APT and other strategy firms is that a Business Consultant (BC) at APT has a very wide array of clients and responsibilities at all times. This allows you to learn about many industries, and creates a job in which the work is new and challenging every single day.

Not only will you have a varied experience, but APT gives their consultants a great amount of responsibility and exposure from day one. From working sessions with senior APT executives, to helping clients solve their most pressing business problems, business consultants play critical roles on all of their client engagements. BC’s are immediately involved in key, strategic analyses for some of the world’s most successful companies.

This brings me to one of the most important reasons behind my decision to work with APT. APT’s data-driven approach to solving our client’s most critical business problems and they way we maintain client relationships is revolutionary and unique. Since we are generally involved in long-term relationships with our clients, we have the ability to see the bottom-line impact that was driven by our consulting and software expertise.

The final piece of APT that made my decision to work here even easier is the collegial, friendly culture of the employees. APT is full of very intelligent, creative, and hard-working individuals, which makes for a very stimulating, team-work environment.

Daily Responsibilities

Within my first year as a Business Consultant, I have worked with five clients that span many industries. From a large jewelry retailer to an international hotel franchise, APT has given me the ability to be work with many different teams and clients with very different problems. One of the best parts of my job is the fact that every day is different from the previous one.

I spend the majority of my time analyzing important client initiatives and maintaining and expanding the client relationships of five key engagements. Whether it is phone calls with clients to discuss their most recent initiatives or in-person training sessions with the client analysts, one of my main responsibilities is to support my clients as they make strategic decisions for their business.

I have also had the ability to become involved in activities outside of my normal client engagements. After nine months on the job, I became the lead of our User Support team, who organizes the curriculum for, and presents a series of, client Webinars that introduce users to our Test and Learn methodology. I have also had the pleasure of becoming heavily involved our recruiting process and look forward to taking an even larger role in the future!

Outside of Work

I spend a great deal of my time outside of work exercising, spending time with friends, and enjoying beautiful Virginia and DC. Arlington and DC are great places to live due to the multitude of activities and young professionals in the area. Be it a mid-week happy hour, an intramural sports game, young professional’s church group, or weekend hiking trip, it is not hard to stay busy outside of work. I also love taking weekend trips to lakes, parks, or ski-resorts in the nearby area.
