APT intrigued me with its blend of technology and business. Instead of having to choose between a consulting or Wall Street career and a software engineering career - my greatest interests - I got the best of both worlds. And that advantage is not just a personal one. APT's strictly quantitative approach to consulting, where each idea is backed up with rigorous analytics, allows the company to excel in adding value to businesses around the world.
Secondly, joining a company after graduating from college, I was looking for a good learning environment. At the same time, I wanted have a lot of responsibility right away. APT exceeded both of my expectations. People are knowledgeable, approachable, and very willing to share their expertise whether it's about SQL or pricing optimization best practices. In addition, business consultants start managing client relationships immediately upon joining, so the responsibilities are serious and rewarding.
Lastly, because APT is a small company, I knew I could contribute significantly. I knew I would have to work long hours but, at the end of the day, my work would add value to the firm. Again, APT did not disappoint. Because client engagement teams are small (usually 3-4 people), business consultants are given a tremendous amount of responsibility at APT compared to other major consulting companies. Career advancement is limited only by how much knowledge you can absorb and how hard you are willing to work.
Since joining APT in 2004, I worked on tens of client engagements spanning banking, retailing, manufacturing, restaurant, retirement services, and other industries. Today, I lead APT teams that are focused on projects as diverse as pricing, capital, labor, merchandising, marketing, and operations strategy. I am the day-to-day client lead across multiple projects, striving to deliver unparalleled levels of insight to enhance business strategy and ultimately the company's bottom line. Working with business consultants, engagement managers and vice-presidents, I strive to facilitate business decision-making with confidence for the world's premier companies.
I spend my free time playing pickup basketball games and chess, cooking seafood and reading about Ancient Greece. And because D.C. has numerous museums and there are so many recreation places in the area, there is never a shortage of interesting things to do during the weekend. I spend most of my long weekends hiking around the city and camping in Shenandoah National Park.
