Why APT?

Coming from a purely natural science background, I have spent the past few years in graduate school studying the impact of climate change on the structure and dynamics of tropical forests across the world. Joining APT and becoming a business consultant probably is not an obvious and long-expected path forward, but can be described as a nice surprise turn that led to a new phase of my life.

I first got to know APT through on-campus recruiting, and then discovered someone I knew who joined one year earlier. Through her introduction and various conversations with other APTers, I became very interested in, and intrigued by, the unique nature and business approach of the company. The data-driven and experiment-based methodology, as well as client-facing training and presentations, resemble my past research and teaching experience, so I am able to apply the skills I accumulated in graduate school to different aspects in the business world. Most of all, I am excited about the opportunities to be exposed to APT’s diverse pool of clients and projects. There is never be any shortage of the new things I can learn here every day.

Outside of Work

Since my summer internship at the United Nations Environment Programme last year, I have served as a member on the UNEP Scientific Expert Group on Chemicals and the Environment. I work with other experts across the world, as well as the UNEP Chemicals Branch, to provide scientific advice and guidance on environmental issues linked to the sound management of chemicals, with specific focus on sensitive ecosystems.

For leisure activities, I am an avid traveler and enjoy exploring every corner of the world whenever time and budget permit. Although I will probably no longer go on field trips, I still love trees and will not miss any opportunity to go back to those amazing forests and all the other wonders nature offers. When I am not traveling, I enjoy making crafts (e.g. paper flowers), sewing, shopping and hanging out with friends. I also play a traditional Chinese musical instrument called Guqin.
