After spending two summers interning at a small start-up company, I knew that I wanted to go in that direction after graduation. I wanted to be at a company where I would do challenging, rewarding work that truly makes a difference for the company. This is certainly the case at APT, where everybody plays an integral role both in shaping our clients' business decisions and helping to develop our cutting-edge software. I was also looking for the frequent interaction with senior management that comes with working for a small company. APT's client teams consist of three to four members, so I am able to work closely with people that have years of experience in consulting on a daily basis.
APT is also an excellent learning environment. You quickly gain responsibility and become actively involved on projects with several different clients. This allows you to learn the business models of a variety of different retailers and banks, learn the key issues that these companies address to try to increase profitability, and learn how to perform rigorous, effective analysis on the decisions companies make.
At APT, you also get to see the results of your work throughout some of the largest corporations in the country. It is very rewarding to walk into a major retail store or bank and see that they have implemented your idea.
I spend most of my time managing client engagements and making sure things run smoothly. This includes managing the overall project schedule, executing analysis, presenting the work we have done, and ensuring that data transfer is seamless. I have also been involved in product management helping design new features in our software and leading testing efforts on those new features. I spend a bit of my time in sales and marketing helping APT develop new case studies based on work I have been involved in.
I love running along all of the trails and national parks that Virginia and D.C. have to offer. I also play the jazz bass and ski as often as I can in the winter.
