During my graduate studies, the one thing I constantly yearned for was a true team to work with. With APT, that void in my professional life was filled! Teamwork is critical to the success of this organization, and I have a tremendous amount of daily interaction with people from both the engineering side of the office as well the client-facing delivery side. If I am unable to solve a problem, I know there are people around me that are willing to drop whatever they are doing and help me get to the solution. Those years of only my PhD advisor caring about what I was doing seem to be in the distant past.
Your engineering work gets recognized almost immediately in APT. Clients get upgraded to the latest version of the software every two months, which means that what you write today is two months away from influencing a corporate decision at a Fortune 500 company.
Finally, after spending nearly 6 years in Philly, I loved it so much, I never wanted to leave. D.C. provides me almost all that Philadelphia had to offer, in terms of easily accessible sports venues, a farmers market, and of course, all that history. With the Smithsonian Museums all being free, it is also lighter on your wallet.
