Why APT?
I love the fact that software engineers at APT are able to make a meaningful impact even from the very first day! The atmosphere and people at APT are top-notch. The level of teamwork and cooperation I see here every day is just amazing – we help each other pair program, code review, debug, etc. In addition, we also interact with business consultants and product managers every day, which allows us to easily see the use cases and business values that we create from the software.
On the technical side, I enjoy the variety of work we do here, ranging from front-end javascript code to back-end SQL scripts, and everything in between. Working with the mathematics that drives our product is also very fun. And lastly, there are free sodas and snacks in the kitchen!
Daily Responsibilities:
I’m currently working in a team of four to enhance an existing feature that we wrote a few months ago. This involves modifying our existing code, ensuring our old tests pass and writing new unit tests, meeting with product management and business consultants to polish the UI, among other things. We have very short daily meetings to keep everyone on the team updated on progress. I’m also part of the website team, and as part of this team, I help maintain and enhance our website.
Outside of Work:
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring DC; there’s lots of fun things to do. I also like to bowl, read, try out new restaurants, and, last but not least, play fun games like Starcraft.
