Why APT?

What I like about APT is the small intimate team structures and the strength that comes from that teamwork. There is no shortage of knowledge and collaboration as it is thoroughly embedded in the APT culture. Unlike many places in the corporate world, APT employees are genuinely happy, enthusiastic, motivated and proud of what they do. It is truly amazing to be part of this company. The engineers are very hands-on and always eager to help you learn new and existing technologies. In addition, there are so many opportunities to contribute and advance that there is never a dull moment.

Daily Responsibilities:

My daily responsibilities include gathering information on new features, determining testing approaches, and testing the software by simulating end user experience. At the beginning of each release cycle, I write test plans for new features and test existing features. As the developers implement new functionality, I verify the changes in the product according to the test plans. In the meantime, we find issues that have been introduced to the product due to a variety of changes, including new feature implementation and reconstruction of existing functions using new technologies. As APT engineers strive to keep up with the newest technologies available, we often get to revisit existing systems to improve their code and analytic use. Identifying these issues early on is very important. Once reported, these issues are reviewed and fixed by the developers on the team. My job is to ensure the fix has been made appropriately before the final code gets delivered to the clients.

Outside of Work:

During spring and fall, I try to tend to my tiny flowerbeds. Although it only has been a couple of years, so far I am enjoying the path to growing my own green thumb; needless to say, I spend a lot of time learning about all sorts of flowers and plants. Also, like most people in the area, I, too, like taking advantage of the diverse epicurean culture in and around DC. I hope to learn absolutely everything about the best restaurants in town.
