Why APT?

APT does a very unique type of consulting by bringing academic research methods to real life business problems. Having a PhD, I wanted to utilize my research skills in my work. Very few, if any, companies have the analytical sophistication that APT has. This was the most important factor in my decision to choose APT.

In graduate school, I worked on the problem of how consumers make choices when faced with an abundance of options - e.g. between 31 flavors of ice cream, 57 varieties of ketchup, or over 200 television channels - and what happens if we reduce choices. Many of APT's clients are retailers and are faced with similarly complex issues. In fact, I worked with a retailer who decided to reduce the number of choices available as they felt that their consumers had difficulties choosing from their extensive offering. APT gave me the opportunity to finally call my parents and say that the problem I spent years working on in my PhD has some practical, real world applications.

Daily responsibilities:

My daily responsibilities vary according to the project I am working on. I spent several months at a client working with their executives to implement Test & Learn in their organization. In the past I have also worked with a retail bank to help them understand the effect of extending operating hours and to identify winning branches in their network.

Outside of work:

I am a big fan of rap music, so most of my time is spent keeping it real. I tell people that I try to regularly work out at the gym. I am also an aficionado of the Discovery Channel, and I love crocs. (I wanted to buy one but Congress outlawed it and my lease forbade it.) I also try to keep up with following the life of Paris Hilton (who was born on the same day that I was), which was much easier when she was in prison.
