FamilyMart, Taiwan is part of the FamilyMart Company, Limited, based in Japan and operating a chain of convenience stores under the name FamilyMart both in Japan and overseas markets. FamilyMart, Taiwan was founded in 1988 and has grown rapidly, with 2,394 stores across Taiwan bearing its banner as of September 2009. FamilyMart looks to continue its expansion with a stated goal of “one store in every town hall,” as well as expanding its presence into China, where there are currently stores in Shanghai, Suzhou, and Guangzhou. Service is the driving force of FamilyMart’s competitiveness. FamilyMart tops the convenience store category in the survey on service capability conducted by Global Views magazine in 2004, 2005, and 2008.
