Pricing and Promotion

Pricing and promotion are the most common areas for testing among APT’s restaurant clients. They are also among the most profitable areas of focus, with tens of millions of dollars of annual profit typically on the table. Often in the restaurant business, price and promotion tests can drive the brand as a whole. For example, Subway’s $5 Footlong went from a small scale local promotion test to a compelling national message.

Leading restaurant companies use APT's solutions to test many different forms of price/promotion initiatives and answer such questions as:

  • How will price changes affect traffic, sales, and gross profit?
  • How can the company optimize price point menus, value offer promotions, day-part promotions, LTOs, bundled meals, and new item promotional pricing?
  • Do price increases on some items drive substitution of other items?
  • Are price increases more effective in some locations than others?
  • How can pricing stay current as consumer conditions, competitive prices, and commodity costs continue to change?
